About

What do you think about on Thanksgiving Day, just after you’ve finished that delicious meal? If you’re like me, you’re patting your full stomach…and thinking of the turkey sandwich you’re going to make with the leftovers later that day. As a true foodie, I appreciate good eats, but also the idea that money and time spent needs to be worth your while. The recipes, restaurants, and items featured on this blog may not always be cheap, but they are ones that I personally endorse and appreciate as sound and delicious investments.

Who am I? A young woman who appreciates the simple things in life. I grew up in a small town near south Lake Tahoe where I was surrounded by old ranching families, fresh-from-the-garden produce, and my brood of pet chickens. I attended college and spent a total of six years in the California Bay Area, where I received a degree in English at Santa Clara University, met my husband Stuart, and worked in textbook publishing and as a freelance magazine writer.

I moved to Seattle in 2011 to pursue a masters degree at the University of Washington, Seattle. While there I was inspired by the city's burgeoning focus on local food, seasonal ingredients, and inventive international food preparations. It was in Seattle that I created this blog as a means to document the incredible food I was enjoying and the dishes I was experimenting with in my own kitchen. Currently I live in Pacific Grove, California, a world-renowned destination known for its fresh seafood and stunning scenery.

Happy eating, shopping, and living,
Kristina
